Sexy Christianity?

Is lust & desire a blessing or curse?

“Growing up Catholic, I was always surrounded by priests and nuns. In the Eight Grade there was one nun in particular. While most were old and not much to look at, there was a younger petite nun who was often seen in street clothes, shorter skirts and not full habits. I would always fantasize about her (first presence of the dark lord)”

In the course of messaging. a follower was sharing their experiences during which he made this, for me, striking revelation because he reveals how we minimize the reality we lust and desire whether we wish to or not so why is doing so a sin?

And suddenly the above illustration I saw on tumblr took on new meaning. Another example of an overlooked life lesson the Dark Lord wants each of us tor realize. Suddently we can be, at almost any level, moment, etc, attracted sensually and sexually by someone else who might not even be aware. Then some are aware and have to live with it.

A handsome guy, a stunning girl, an enticing cologne, that sensual scent, what either sex is wearing especially if its a woman and a wife who may be dressing sexy for her husband but will be seen by other men. The circumstances are endless. A pastor will say we are constantly tempted to “sin”. That isn’t correct. It’s nature taking its course.

We find we respond pleasurably and when we find we do we often feel more wicked. The xian isn’t supposed to think “sinfully” so the seeing and the attraction goes from attraction to guilt which, in turn, further excites (if we are honest) and becomes another memory similar to what is shared here. Sin and sex are always with us? Yes. the mind and imagination is endless. Both blessing and curse.

For you see, my emphasis isn’t about “anything” or “something” happening. I’m again questioning why we’re supposed to see casual sex as a “sin” worthy of eternal condemnaton simply because our senses are stirred?

We are created as we are to be admired and to admire, etc … we are made to sexually lust after and to be objects of another’s lust. I go to the beach or the pool and others are there who see me. I ride my bike through the community or often jog … I dress casually or formally. I may wish to be frumpy. I may elect to go all out. Regardless, others may lust for me, desire me or they may not. Lust and desire are there within me … There are those times when it happens and you wish it hadn’t.

So how should one respond? Isn’t it easier to smile and say it’s not prudent to do so rather than see what happened a some sin and you are depressed because you’re angry with yourself because, “It’s all so wrong and I’m not supposed to feel this way much less consider wanting to indulge?”

More can be said but I will stop here with my usual.

I don’t believe there is anything better than that is considered sin. Yes, the church would like you to believe so, as did the Romans. It is simple as looking into the Bible, book of Ecclesiastes 3:19, Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath[a]; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless. Sorry to point out the obvious, using the church’s instruction manual.
