What Is Theistic Satanism / Traditional Satanism?
Theistic Satanism, sometimes called Traditional Satanism, is a broad term for spiritual or religious beliefs in which Satan is understood as a real spiritual being, deity, or divine figure rather than simply a symbol or metaphor.
Unlike LaVeyan Satanism, which generally views Satan as a symbol of individualism and personal freedom, Theistic Satanists may believe in Satan as an actual supernatural being and may choose to worship, honor, pray to, or build a spiritual relationship with Him.
There is no single universal form of Theistic Satanism. Different practitioners can have very different beliefs about Satan, demons, spirituality, morality, rituals, and religious traditions. Some view Satan as a liberating or rebellious figure, while others understand Him as a teacher, deity, adversarial figure, or spiritual guide.
Traditional Satanism can also involve the study of historical religious texts, mythology, occult traditions, and the development of one’s own spiritual practice. Practices may vary greatly between individuals and groups.
At its core, Theistic Satanism is not one single organized religion with one official doctrine. It is an umbrella term covering different spiritual paths centered around a belief in Satan as a real spiritual entity.
