And within the seventh circle, angels were to suffer at the hands of devils — their halos shattered, and wings slowly pinioned without mercy. These souls were sacred and represented the fallacy of the light — Eidolons of God, who would languish until they abhorred his name. They would bathe amidst blood and feathers, As Satan looked down upon them with contempt, and the hope drained from their hallowed eyes.
