Sinners & Satan In The Sanctuary?

An interesting question where it appears one is addressing the oft-shared opinion the church is filled with the very people that aren’t supposed to be there because they engage in all manner of sinful things sensual, sexual and satanic. It’s easy to target folks who attend. However, since I’m married to man of the cloth unaware I am “Who I am,”my emphasis is often on those “Holy leaders” who are expected to be examples of what’s expected by the message they preach.

That message speaks to what I again call sinless perfection, that impossible-for-humans-to-accomplish goal Christians struggle to attain in order to obtain their eternal reward. I sum it up as “I lust therefore I am” because while “I sin therefore I am” is equally true. If one listens to theologians, across the Christian spectrum, lusting itself is sin-easily, seen when one views two commandments of “You shall not commit adultery” and “Thou shall not covet”. The last commandment is difficult to achieve.

I’ve sat in church praying or with others praying asking forgiveness for some sin or sins (often while we’re praying for others) and finding myself lusting over someone that is also there or maybe doing so in my mind. Think about it. I’m praying asking for forgiveness for having slept with some guy and his throbbing rod comes to mind as I’m praying. Often we don’t consider these situations but all Christians experience this all the time and it isn’t just something that has to do with sex.

The church today is a monolithic organized worship experience both large, small and otherwise. However, in the Bible its simply the “people” or the “ekklesia’, the body of Christian. We’ve made it the monolith it is to accomplish ministry and worship. People attend for whatever reason, which is only known to them. The Christian Bible shares it plainly “All sin and fall short of the glory of God,” and since we can’t ever be free from that sin, the verse goes on to share “The gift of God is eternal life …”

Since it’s impossible to achieve sinless perfection, you can’t earn it and because you cant the only way to deserve it (eternal life) is to achieve the impossible it would have to be a gift. But how is it a gift when we’re judged by our sin? Regardless, the rule of thumb is you do just that (earn it by your actions, etc), because morality demands it. Then, of course, there are those who go to church for, what I will call, mercenary reasons, doing so benefits them in some way. I will stop at this point having shared as I. Think about it. Ave Obscurum Dominum.
