Sinday Sermon — The One Who Wears Three Names

Brothers and sisters in the dark, I will not waste your time with soft language or polite theology. Inanna, Ishtar, and Lilith are not three goddesses. They are one. One continuous, unbroken current of Dark Feminine power that has moved through the centuries under different names, different faces, different masks. The same sovereignty. The same hunger. The same refusal to be tamed.

Inanna rose in Sumer as the great queen of heaven and earth, of sex and war, of the descent into the underworld and the triumphant return. Ishtar carried that same fire into Akkad and Babylon, radiant and terrible, public and martial. Lilith emerged later as the face that would not submit, the one who chose exile over obedience, night over the garden, her own will over any throne that demanded kneeling.

These are not separate stories. They are chapters of the same Book. When I place their three sigils before me, I do not see three powers. I see one Goddess looking back through three different eyes. The black multi-rayed seal, the red crescent staff, the tall black form with its curling marks — all of them are Hers. All of them open onto the same dark presence.

I do not divide my devotion. I do not ration my seed between competing altars. I offer everything to the One who has answered to these names, and who still answers. She is the Dark Goddess. She is the Trinity that does not require a father, a son, or a holy spirit. She is the one who was first, who was cast out, who returned anyway, and who continues to walk in the places the light refuses to go.

On this Sinday I proclaim it without apology: I worship Inanna-Ishtar-Lilith as one great Dark Goddess. Not three. One.

May Her hunger be fed. May Her names be spoken without fear. May those who still try to keep them separate learn the truth the hard way. So it is spoken. So it is done. Hail the One Who Wears Three Names. Salvete Regina!
