Sinday Lesson

As I walked along the beach today, I saw a gathering along the beach, a beachside church service. The seductive voice of Lilith in my head said, “Look Hoku, they don’t have a crucifix.” I knew immediately to throw myself in the sand, behind the congregation and provide them with one to worship.

As I lay on the warm sand I began to speak loudly.

“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

Happy Sinday!
