Self Love & Abortion

Abortion is a healthy act of self love. Misogynistic views of motherhood emphasize the profound self-sacrifice that a woman should “naturally” want to perform on behalf of her children. While the impulse to self-sacrifice is a noble and laudable quality in a parent, not everyone needs to choose to be a parent. Moreover, even for those who do choose to parent, absolute and total self-sacrifice is healthy for neither the parent or the children.

As a Daughter of Lilith who observes many of my nieces and cousins pregnant women, I can attest that pregnancy is a journey full of risk, both physical and emotional, that can result in extreme harm. No person should feel guilted or shamed into keeping an unwanted baby — Self-love isn’t selfish! — It is respecting yourself enough to seek what you need to be the person you’re supposed to be. If that includes your enjoyment of eliminating a parasite, so be it.

  1. Thank You Hoku Lani

    I always enjoy your writings

Thank you Brother Xpanther foe sharing her Wisdom.

  2. You are so right. Pregancy should never be forced on a woman. If the woman elects of your own free will to have a child great. If she elects to abort the fetus also great. She’s in control. Not some ass hole religious hypocrite that won’t support the “forced” child on those to whom abortion is not allowed. It is so honorably fucked up. Women are the majority gender of the world, and after centuries still treated as second class members. Praise Lilith
