Reimagining As A Blasphemous Response
One of the methods often used but overlooked by so many with a glance when what one should consider is “why” it happened and what it means to the artist who does so. Thank you @juneluv24 for sharing the above with this:
“On the occasion for our lady of sorrows, I manipulated an image to depict the other side of the coin. I enjoyed it. While my family is fasting, I’m feasting on blasphemous porn and not just browsing. However I was careful in reimagining and creating this image, in the hope that Tumblr doesn’t remove it. I thought that I should share it with you for potential inspiration to your writing.”
I have often shared about blasphemy and why. Each of us find our own way to “be that way” if we wish and many see being so is, well, a catharsis of sorts, done for personal reasons as we see here. Doing so is a sort of declaration of independence. A reaction, a personal response. I’ve heard it described as ‘flipping off the church”. Often these efforts are rather crass, similar to a temper tantrum.
More often they are serious even if crass because they are honest expressions of how one feels. Then there are what I call the more sophisticated expressions, some very open and others “silent but on point”. It all has to do with imagery and meaning. Its all has to do with the individual. What was it Pope Julius asked Michaelangelo when the Pope viewed the artist painting the face of the xian Almighty in the Sistine Chapel in the movie “The Agony & the Ecstacy”?: “Is that how you see Him?”
Might not the same question be asked of all of us when we “express ourselves when it comes to being blasphemous? I’m going shopping shortly so i think I will wear a dress instead of slack and go commando with a buttplug. Is that blasphemy? It is for me today. For you see, blasphemy can take many forms and often they can be very personal while seemingly silent. Its the intent and @juneluv24 has done so here for all to see.
