I Am Satan — pronounced “Sa Tan”

The Evil One, the Serpent, the Devil, the Accuser, the Adversary, the Opposer, the Shining One, and the Lord of the Flies (dung, death, and disease) are just a few of the titles given to YHWH’s most powerful nemesis. But he is clever and perceptive. Just like his title, the Shining One, he makes himself sparkling and shiny, like an angel of light: Satan

There is a huge misunderstanding surrounding this word. Somehow it has become the name of the Evil One, although it was never intended to be. Satan simply means adversary or opposer. As a woman, I have always been taught to be subservient and obedient. Growing up in a religious household, I was constantly reminded of the story of Eve and how her disobedience led to the downfall of humanity.

I was taught that as a woman, I should submit to men and the will of Yahweh or god, and any deviation from this role would lead to burning in hell. Fortunately, as I grew older, I began to question these teachings and the role that women were expected to play in society.

I started to realize that the idea of a male-dominated god and submissive females was not only oppressive, but also perpetuated harmful gender stereotypes. Why should any woman be expected to be meek and obedient, while men are encouraged to be strong and dominant?

This double standard was unacceptable to me, and I began to reject the notion of a patriarchal male god. As I researched and reflected deeper into my own beliefs, I realized that the concept of god was created by men to maintain their power and control over women. In many religious texts, women are portrayed as temptresses and the root of all evil.

This demonization of women has been used to justify the oppression and mistreatment of women throughout history. As a woman who opposes god and organized religion, I have found a powerful ally in Lilith. Unlike god, Lilith does not discriminate based on gender. Lilith is often depicted as a powerful and independent entity, who challenges the status quo and encourages individuals to think for themselves.

As one of Lilith’s High Priestesses, I embrace my femininity and reject the notion that women are inferior. I refuse to be submissive or obedient to a male deity who seeks to control and limit women’s autonomy. Instead, I stand with Lilith in promoting individualism, free thought, and equality for all. Lilith also represents rebellion against societal norms and the courage to challenge the oppressive systems in place.

As a woman, I have faced discrimination and inequality in various aspects of my life, from the workplace to personal relationships. But through my alliance with Lilith, I have found the strength to speak out against these injustices and fight for my rights as a woman. The Dark Goddess also represents the power of choice and self-determination.

As a woman, I have the right to make my own decisions and choose my path in life, without being dictated by a male deity. Satan encourages individuals to embrace their desires and live life on their terms, without fear of judgment or punishment. In a world where women are constantly told to be subservient and obedient.

I am proud to oppose this god, as a symbol of empowerment and rebellion against the oppressive forces of patriarchy and organized religion. I will continue to challenge the status quo and fight for a society where women are treated as equals and not as second-class servants. So yes, this makes me the adversary, therefore — I am Satan, High Priestess of Lilith, Hoku Lani.
