Hexes, Hate, & The Dark Lord
Hexes and spells are among the “meat and potatoes” for those in the craft (witches and witchery) However, followers aren’t necessarily witches, etc, so engaging in doing so via any number of rituals and other similar avenues is often avoided for any number of reasons by seekers and followers while others seek or follow for that very reason and often find themselves disappointed because results aren’t immediate or happen the way we wish. While hexes and spells are often bound up in “how it’s done”, “what is said” and “the best time to do it”, the bottom line is that one is dealing with “the Beyond”.
What’s happening is we are asking the Supernatural for, well, supernatural intervention, so, even though we “do it right” when it comes to the rituals, etc, we employ, it isn’t what happens and how it will happen up to that same “supernatural” to whom we are appealing?. We humans create and follow rituals and actions where and when we perform hexes and spells to placate the “Other Side” so “He, She, or They” will do what we ask.
Often, we want our desire to be granted immediately or almost immediately. So much so, we deny that same “supernatural” time to consider what we seek and decide on whatever response or solution is best, etc. We want our “need” met, essentially, right then. However, what we also often overlook because we have this “David Copperfield/Penn&Teller ideal when it comes to such things is this: We aren’t divine, so who are we to determine what should occur, much less when it should happen?
What we find ourselves wanting to achieve is, maybe, an immediate confirmation that our petition will be granted, our wish fulfilled nunc pro tunc (a legal term meaning now for then). Besides, isn’t it best we aren’t aware of details, etc? Plausible deniability can be applied to divinity.
When the lightning we want to strike someone doesn’t happen as we wish, suddenly we walk away disappointed, missing several important truths which we all admit but are too impatient to allow when it comes to “me”. This article is written off the cuff after the following blog entry posted in Tumblr was shared with me, followed by the usual query: “Your thoughts?”.
“I’m sorry, but I think curses and hexes are okay. I’ve hurt horrible people for years, and I have never been punished for it. I think if someone tries to harm me, I have every right to bite back. These anti-hex people always say that the world will make them pay, and they will get what’s coming to them, so you shouldn’t interfere. But I AM a part of that world, I AM their karma, the universe put this power in my hands, and they aren’t going to harm you for using it. I don’t have to be the justice, but I can be, and it’s okay.
“Hexes are good outlets for the rage or lack of control we feel in our lives. I deserve to release that anger and let go of it so I can move on, and I will use it to hurt the people who abused and said me because they don’t deserve peace in the slightest.
“It’s okay to be bitter and angry and not “full of love and light”, and personally, I think it’s way healthier to express that anger than pretend it doesn’t exist and bottle it up because you’re afraid some cosmic energy is going to punish you for feeling.”
Curses, hexes and similar damnations, etc, can and do have a positive effect on she or he who makes them, seeks them, petitions “Heaven” for them. There is that positive catharsis that can occur where one, having pronounced or sought anathema against whoever for whatever reason, experiences a sense of release having handed the issue over, so to speak, to someone else.
While I, personally, am free to petition the Dark Lord in matters hex and spell, I go a step further. For you see, I have a “root doctor on retainer” who is gifted in such matters, who I can actually call and share in confidence my need. Such happens all the time in the Deep South, where the practice has existed since before our nation existed. I often mention Aunt Jo (or Miss Josephine to others), who is so gifted. She referred my current root doctor on call. There are many out there who profess to be so gifted. Authentic root doctors are known and often called upon by some of the finest families in the South, quietly, for those special needs. I’m digressing.
For the sake of concluding, the reality is that one seeking hexes and spells, etc, while we want to do so “in the right way” so the effort is effective, is simply petitioning or praying to, in my case, the Dark Lord, asking for whatever it is we seek. Since I am a “Kiss” follower (Keep It simple and sincere), while I might use some ritual, etc.
I have in my Book of Shadows, actually, I often put forward my petition pretty much openly in a moment when I can sincerely focus on His Presence and my petition. I sum it up this way: a simple prayer where I ask and share why. Then I leave it in His hands if I haven’t also engaged the services of my root doctor on the coast. I engage the latter, often for guidance, and most definitely when I feel the “matter” deserves special attention. If Aunt Jo becomes involved, the situation deserves extremely special attention. That, also, is another story.
Hexes and spells, potions and herbs, and the like all have an aura of “things witchy” which is and isn’t so. Witchcraft can be learned. Hoodoo and my root doctor have nothing to do with witchery. Yet, I’m into the craft. (Yet another story). What I am saying is what we do to invoke the”spirits”, etc, isn’t so much about doing it in the right way or according to a set structure. What has to occur, at least with and for me, is a sense of trust, reverence and sincerity. And don’t be upset angry. What happens then is up to the Dark Lord, after which, having “done my part”, I have a sense of peace.
Everyone has their own ideas and opinions about hexes, spells, potions and the like. These are my thoughts considering the article shared with me. Forgive the usual flaws in my writing. The illustration I selected is from online. The topic is intriguing, and there is an overwhelming mass of material online available for one to access, along with any number of rituals and formulas one can adapt for personal use. I will end here — take some time and think further about it.
I use the title above because hexes and spells often occur. After all, we’re often angry or in some way “hate”, maybe not in the extreme, but in some way, so the word is applicable. Then, again, this is me speaking to me and sharing in My Secret Space. Ave Obscurum Dominum.
