Demon Crossing
I rode into the valley reluctantly and headed toward a pass on the far side. This whole valley was called Demon Crossing and there was a reason. Once a millennium ago an army of demons had spilled out of their realm and into this valley. They had one thing on their mind, to kill and destroy.

The wizard closed the top of the tower after we were down. He and Aurora had unsaddled the horses and I pulled out my blanket. I glanced at the wizard, “I will watch from the top and let you know if I see any demons.”
After the wizard opened the stairs I began walking around looking out the crenels and watching the sky. It was hours before I saw the army as they approached the stream. I saw something moving through the brush and had a brief glimpse of demons and gave a warning. The army spread out and struck into the demons and used axes and thick bladed swords.
They cut the demons into pieces to kill them as the rest of the army continued across the stream. Once they made camp and began to set up defenses I went down. I turned, “I need to bring my horses out and get them water and feed.”

An hour and platoon sized patrols went out and the spear was back on top of the tower. The wizard and mages gathered and created spells to send the patrols to where the demons were. I left my bed inside the Demon Watch and when it grew dark I slipped in with Aurora. She had been impatient and pulled me straight to the bed.

I just wonder if the demons will open the gate in another millennium and if the men in that time will be ready.
