Vampirism Is Sexy
I have been reading the very first vampire story … it’s called “Carmilla” written by Sheridan Le Fanu in 1871 … it’s erotic horror (lesbian-based) … but not explicitly sexual, more subtle, and it’s written in the language of the time.
The vampire “Camilla” who is also known by an anagram of her name “Mircalla” is seen as a very attractive young girl of undisclosed age who preys on other pretty young girls (the sexual connotations are not obvious but the taking of blood and penetration are) — she appears to be demure and languid but in the night she transforms into something else to suck the blood of her victims … this was written before Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” in 1897 …
Here’s an excerpt …
“Neglected, I began to whimper, preparatory to a hearty bout of roaring; when to my surprise, I saw a solemn, but very pretty face looking at me from the side of the bed. It was that of a young lady who was kneeling, with her hands under the coverlet. I looked at her with a kind of pleased wonder, and ceased whimpering. She caressed me with her hands, and lay down besides me on the bed, and drew me towards her, smiling: I felt immediately delightfully soothed, and fell asleep again. I was wakened by a sensation as if two needles ran into my breast very deep at the same moment, and I cried loudly. The lady started back, with her eyes fixed on me, and then slipped down upon the floor, and, as i thought, hid under the bed.”
This was all inspired by the movie “Nosferato” by Robert Eggers — I watched it on the plane trip to Thailand and was greatly impressed with the detailing. Eggers uses a forgotten language and the cinematography is brilliant. So moody and sexual. The word “Nosferato” literally means unbearable in Romanian.
I want to study these stories (so that I can develop a closer appreciation of the language) and use this in my own stories … it creates a fantastic mood … and overlayed with sexual perversion will make some interesting nuances …

She then, lay down besides me on the bed, pressing herself against me in the most exquisite of sensations — drew me towards her — kissing my mouth — and parting my moist lips with her tongue. I felt immediately delightfully soothed, as her hands began to roam across me, touching my neck, breasts, and downwards towards my genitals: fingering me, in places that modesty forbids my exact descrption — the sensations so sweet I began to quake — after which I fell into deep and luxurious sleep.”
