In Part Three let’s take a look at the theory that Mary was a child prostitute who made up the story of her son’s life to explain her pregnancy and growing belly.

Occam’s razor is a tool to assist with making thinking more efficient. The simplest hypothesis more often leads to the correct conclusion. Mary invented the story of Jesus’ birth to conceal her immoral actions.

That is the simplest explanation. Let’s look at the facts — Jesus was referred to as the ‘Son of a carpenter’ and not the ‘Son of a Rabbi’ — it is much more believable that Mary was enjoying sex as soon as she reached puberty and needed an explication as to how she was pregnant.

It’s no secret that there are quite a few Biblical characters who are prostitutes. Scholars claimed that Mary was a rape victim. Let’s look at some women in the genealogy for Jesus, as found in the Bible. The odd fact is that Tamar, Rahab, Bathsheba, and Ruth are all mentioned in there even though women are nearly never mentioned in ancient genealogies.

Several other women could have been mentioned the author of Matthew, seemed to be focusing on women who were involved in some sexual impropriety.

Applying Occam’s principle, it is more likely she was either an easy woman or profited off her skills and less likely raped. However, according to the Bible women and children were simply sex slaves, so perhaps.
