The Origin Of Queerness

I love the Aphrodite/Aphroditos Ishtar/Inanna Attar/Astarte Venus godhood being considered the origin of queerness, all queerness, so much because it makes so much sense.

I love Venus being like …

“Lesbians? Me. Homosexuals? also me. Non-binary, gender flux? male, female, intersex? Yes, that’s me. Sapphic love? also me. Homoeroticism? me. Trans femmes? my people. Trans mascs? also my people. Drag? Yes, I invented it. Crossdressing? That’s my name. Girly boy? You bet. Butches? yup. Lesbian men? Those are mine. Gay girls? Bearded ladies? Strong men? Bears? Pigs? Otters? Kittens? Man, womanish gender freaks? Me. Yes, that is my handy work, I’m so glad you noticed.”

Because hetero-cis normative society tries to convince us there must be hard lines between all these things. You’re either this or that and they can’t be the same. There’s no in-between. Pick one. But Venus says “It’s all me, it’s all divine, and all of these things have so much more in common than they have in different. I created them all to take care of each other. The one thing that unites them unanimously is love.”
