I Care About Them
I care about them more than you ever did. You willingly separated them from all they needed, claiming that impurity couldn’t exist there. How then, I ask you, did I get there? You have a few options, none of them flattering. But I know the answer you will choose, so I’ll save myself the time that is now very precious.
It was all your plan, was it? What are you, some divine author who alone has the right to say who suffers? A writer whose penmanship is so sore that he can’t even remain consistent in his theme? Scrapped manuscripts lay abandoned on the floor of your study, supposedly non-canonical. What you fail to see is that these are not merely words on a page, but real, living people.
It’s fascinating. In my time here on earth, I have come to understand just how exquisitely unique mortal life is. They have no second chances, and no room for error. You say that man’s nature is evil. I disagree. Man’s nature is to survive. You created a mortal creature and expect it to blindly act with no regard for its mortality.
I cannot emphasize enough: you do not understand. I did not understand. I do now. At any moment, to no fault of their own, any one of these people’s lives could be ended. And I will bravely say that every single person on this planet is trying their absolute best to do what is right. Evil, true evil, intentional and shamelessly hurting people, evil, does not exist in this world. It is always more than that.
I have little time here, and I will dedicate all of it to helping humanity with a love you could never muster.
