How To Write A Story
FROM PHILIP (VIA LS666 EMAIL)
Greetings, I believe I emailed you some years ago and I never followed up. I am wondering what the process is like to have a story published on your blog. Mainly I’m interested in the formatting and the Do’s/Don’ts content-wise. I was looking for a site to share a story I had in mind about a world that slowly became more and more corrupt and perverse. Before I even seriously began writing it I wanted to reach out for this information.
RESPONSE FROM XP (VIA LS666 EMAIL & BLOG)
Hi Philip — There are lots of sites to publish on. The most popular is Literotica … however, if you are into “Erotic Horror” and “ Dark Perversions” … Littlesally666.com maybe for you. If you’ve read my stories and the stories of other authors in the blog, you know what I mean.
The thing about writing is that’s it’s a passion. I love it. I wrote all the time and I have been “telling evil, wicked, and depraved” stories for decades … first in ASSTR, then on other blogs … unfortunately, these blogs don’t exist anymore … so I started my own (about 8 years ago).
What I look for in a story is inspiration. Yes, it’s sexual but it’s not just one sex scene after the other. A hot story has a protagonist (you need to build credibility into your character). It will need a plot (you need to create the context). It needs to be factually correct (research your subject matter — but that doesn’t mean you cannot use your imagination).
Some other things to think about:
Stay in one tense — present or past tense — he said, she did, he didn’t … or … he says, she does, he doesn’t.
Pick a single POV — that means who’s telling the story, you or a narrator. We call this first, second or third person — I moved forward, I watched from a distance … or you moved forward, you watched from a distance … or he moved forward, he watched from a distance.
Watch your spelling, punctuation, and syntax (especially when involving speech marks) … there are many online resources to help you do that .. like “Grammerly” etc.
In terms of formatting — you can give me your story in MS Word or Apple Pages or just in the body of an email to [email protected] — easy, right?
What I hate — are long paragraphs (try short sentences and short paragraphs), “speech” buried in normal text (always start a new paragraph), using CAPITAL letters as a form of emphasis, and too many exclamation marks!!!!
Writing is a process. It takes me about a month to write a story that’s about 8,000 to 10,000 words. Typically, I will go through 10 to 20 drafts. I will check and recheck it many times. Sometimes, I have as many as 10 stories on the go at the same time. Sometimes, I get bored with a story or simply cannot think of what to do next … so I chill … and come back to it later … other times, I get inspired by other writers, movies, news, and even people I meet (or am attracted to) … it’s about observation and the trick is to look into the “details”.
And most importantly, have fun. I often masturbate while writing. XP.
This is very helpful. I love that you masturbate while writing because I always masturbate while reading your words.
Hail XP , wonderful advice . I have been a fan of yours since your days writing on ASSTR , I would look forward to your stories eagerly .
There are thousands of stories on Asstr , Literotica , but since you started LS666 , I haven’t returned to them .
You are a prime example of great storytelling . I become bored with very long over detailed descriptions , plus descriptions of sex that go on and on .
I hope Philip will read your stories , as it’s true what you say in your response to his question , writing requires passion , and it has always been evident XP , you have a passion for writing . You research thoroughly, that is obvious , you know your subject , you know how to craft a story and keep the reader absorbed , that’s a great skill you possess .
Also I absolutely enjoy the various elements you include in your stories : an actual story line , plot , the characters , corruption , twists and the unexpected as I see it .
I have always thought of your stories as ‘ deliciously wicked . ‘
I hope Philip will just use his imagination and allow his imagination to run riot .
Hi Syd … that’s a lot to live up to (for me) … haha … appreciate the love and encouragement … and it’s my hope that Philip will add something new to our collective. Even though I cannot spell “Grammarly” correctly (thanks Mike for that)!
