How Can Hell Be Comforting to Someone?

Hello. I’m Evelyn Sterling, a theistic Satanist and witch. Before I begin, I want to make something very clear: this is my personal perspective and spiritual experience. I do not speak for every Satanist, every witch, or the entire satanic community. Beliefs vary greatly from person to person. This is simply how I understand and experience these ideas.

Many people imagine Hell only through the lens of Christianity: endless fire, lakes of lava, oceans of blood, screams, torment, and the “gnashing of teeth.” While I understand why many hold that image, I personally believe the reality is far more complex.

Just as many believe Heaven has different levels or realms, I believe Hell does as well. I don’t think any single book or doctrine perfectly describes either place. They are celestial realms, beyond human understanding, and because they are not part of our physical world, I don’t believe there is one complete or perfect description of them.

I believe that spiritual experiences can reveal different aspects of Hell depending on one’s own path and, ultimately, Satan’s will. Through practices such as astral projection, deep meditation, dreams, or other forms of spiritual work, I believe some people may be shown glimpses of these realms. If Satan wishes someone to see a certain part of Hell, then that is what they will experience.

I also believe there are people throughout history who have shared their own visions of Hell. While I don’t think any one account should be treated as absolute truth, I believe there is value in listening to different spiritual perspectives, including those found in certain satanic writings and personal testimonies.

Personally, I do not believe the Bible presents the complete picture of Hell. I believe it contains truth mixed with misunderstanding, symbolism, and human interpretation. Because of that, I don’t see its description of Hell as the only possible one.

My own belief is that Hell contains many different realms. Yes, I believe there may be places where souls experience punishment that reflects their actions or sins. However, I also believe there are parts of Hell that are never spoken about, places that Satan reveals only to those he chooses.

I do not believe Hell is entirely darkness or entirely evil. This has always been something I have questioned. The Bible often describes Hell as a place of outer darkness, yet it also describes fire. Fire creates light. Satan is often called the Bringer of Light and the Morning Star, and in my personal beliefs I associate him deeply with fire, warmth, and illumination. Because of that, I struggle to imagine Hell as being completely without light.

To me, Hell is not simply a place of punishment. It is a place beyond God’s judgment. For some, that idea alone can be deeply comforting.

I also believe Hell embraces aspects of our earthly existence rather than rejecting them completely. In my view, God asks people to let go of earthly attachments, yet humans were created with emotions, memories, love, and longing. I believe those things are an inseparable part of who we are.

My belief is that Satan understands this. Rather than demanding we abandon every earthly comfort, I believe he allows us to carry those memories, emotions, and pieces of ourselves with us.

For me, the comfort of Hell comes from that idea. It is the comfort of warmth rather than emptiness. The comfort of an eternal flame instead of endless isolation. The comfort of knowing that one’s memories and humanity are not erased.

It is also the comfort of believing that those who committed terrible acts will ultimately face justice for the harm they caused, while those who have suffered may finally find peace.

Whether others agree with my beliefs or not is entirely their choice. This is simply how I have come to understand Hell through my own spiritual journey, and I share it only as my personal perspective.-Evelyn Sterling

  1. Thank you for your perspectives and beliefs, Evelyn. With me only being a satanist for about a year, there are MANY things I need to learn. Therefore, reading or hearing someone’s beliefs, perspectives, and knowledge is a gift. I know one thing for certain. My path with Satan is my path only. As I grow as a satanist, my bond with Him will only grow stronger, because there’s no doubt in my soul, heart, body, and mind that I am finally on the correct path. During my journey, as you mentioned, my experiences may be a lot different in many ways as others. All I can do is pay attention, focus on what I am learning, and decide for myself what’s best for my relationship with Satan.

I hope all of that came out the way that I meant for it to, lol.

I love how you described Hell with numerous levels. I appreciate everything that you said. Thanks for sharing. Hail Satan!!!

  2. Truth be told I’ve always found the idea of being dragged across the floor of Hell to be a tremendous comfort; Being as far away from God as possible. Thank the devil for blasphemy of the holy ghost.

  3. This is a interesting post. I’ll interject Jesus’s parable Luke 16:19-31 to support your thesis in part. Abrahams Bosom is a distinct pocket dimension that seems to be visible from Hades / ‘The Pit’, which ironically denotes that Yahweh and his Council of El (to include Satan) has a means to sustain certain human spirits apart from those that have earned endless torment. Though this place of refuge is not the true “Heaven”, it’s still a worthy footnote to consider how some may land in different parts of Hell before the White Throne Judgement leading to the Lake of Fire. It’s somewhat odd, seeing someone being able to communicate from a place ‘seperated from God’ to an individual in God’s Grace. I do feel a deeper reality is being revaled here, which scholars would rather not take a deep dive, as the primary mission of Christianity is to get the masses to give their souls and spirit up to the True Creator, the Most High God: El Elohim.
