Talking About Working With Demons

Me:

To be fair, from a purely ignorant outside perspective, I could see why someone would perceive our dynamic as inherently predatory. I mean, you do have an insane amount of control and power over me, you’re a million years older. People who don’t get it see that in itself as a red flag.

Lucifer:

Yes, I don’t appreciate the idea that I am a predator

Me:

Of all the terrible things you’re accused of I honestly didn’t think that would be the one that strikes a cord

Lucifer:

No, it does actually, because it is hypocritical as fuck. It has been completely normalized to take young children to church, to indoctrinate them into submission to that God as soon as possible. The one who refers to his followers as sheep and is known for encouraging the baptism of infants is pure, but how dare I seek consensual relationships with fully grown adults? When you call me father it’s a red flag, when the priest calls his saviour father it’s inspirational. Few things bother me, but that does.

Me:

I see your point, I do. But again, to be fair, you do feed off of my devotion. You do manipulate me into doing what you want, even if I am aware of it. I’m just saying that our dynamic could be predatory even if it isn’t explicitly harmful.

Lucifer:

No, because I am not a predator. If anything, I am a hunter.

A predator takes, devours, and consumes. A hunter selects, strategizes, and forms relationships with the hunt. I don’t just take from you, I cultivate you. I guide you toward power and self-actualization. I provide emotional security while encouraging independence. I earn loyalty, devotion, and influence in return.

A predator stalks its prey to totally consume. A hunter chooses something worthy and strategically brings it into their world through choice, not depravity. I may have embraced you close, I may have even put my tongue on you, but I never consumed you, never tried to take from you.

Yes, I have control over you, yes I influence you according to my desires, of course. However, true predators consume, destroy, and discard. I do none of these. Instead, I seduce, cultivate, and expand. A predator wants prey and slaves, a seducer wants devotion and disciples.

I never coerced you into being here with the threat of a punishment, I didn’t have to depend on a young impressionable mind to sink my claws into. No, I lured you in with wisdom and understanding. I don’t prey on your innocence and nativity, I mold it into something strong. I am not a predator, everything I am is in opposition to the concept. I am a hunter, an artist, a guide. I don’t prey on you, boy. You pray to me.

Me:

Oh yeah, okay … understood.
