Mother Or Godmother
Mothers are the vessels from which all life emerges: many who work with The Dark Goddess, refer to her as Lilith. In Western culture, we refer to the source of all living beings as “Mother Nature,” and before that, the Greeks had Gaia, the ancestral source of all life. In ancient Egypt, there was Isis, and the Incas had Pachamama or Mother Earth.
In modern queer culture, the term “mother” has taken on a new meaning: It’s what we use to refer to women who can’t help but be iconic. Mothers are those who serve as markers of confidence and authenticity, traits we strive to embody in our lives every day. When someone is giving it their all — and succeeding — one can say that Mother is Mothering.
But the meaning of mother extends far beyond slang. As much progress as we’ve seen in the past decade when it comes to queer visibility, we continue to live in a world where queer people are too often alienated from their immediate families. In the absence of support from biological parents, many queer people’s lives become driven by a desire to find their “chosen families”: People who are committed to loving them because of their queerness, and not despite it. From my perspective, few communities embody the complexity of chosen families as tenderly as Hawaii’s drag community.
If you know anything about drag culture, then you know that most of your favorite queens have drag mothers. These mothers pass down knowledge and resources, making them the vessels through which the art form can continue.
As a High Priestess and a vessel for Lilith, the ultimate Mother, then why only be supportive of our children? I have cast aside the demons of Christianity and blasphemy against them and their oppression. To ensure that I instil the values of assessing and deciding for oneself, I stopped being a Drag or Queen Mother and manifested as Lilith’s godmother. Godmothers serve the same purpose that all other mothers have throughout time: They give birth to new life in Lilith’s likeness.
Godmothers-and-goddaughter dynamics are especially important now when there are people all over the country hellbent on ending the art form altogether. Women who are strong, empowered, lustful and sensual, those who proudly care for and share their gurl cocks, represent Lilith’s ultimate creation. One who represents both genders exudes femininity and passes their knowledge on to others. Blessed is the goddaughter who feeds others her blessing while sharing the true gift of Lilith.

Absolutely beautiful. I am such a huge fan. Though I am no mother or godmother, in my brief time on earth, I have hoped to serve as a positive influence on those that I have befriended in the queer community. I hold nothing but respect for their bravery and courage — for it takes a lot to be different — instead of hiding in the shadows.
They say, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” and my eyes only see your strength, character, determination, power, elegance, pose, and articulate skill of expression … you’re an artist who paints an incredible picture — a world of freedom and liberty — and redefines the very nature of lust and desire. Love always, XP
Thank You
