Worship Or Be Close
MESSAGE FROM ANONYMOUS (VIA TUMBLR)
What are some things I can do to worship or be close to Satan. I don’t have an altar or anything?
RESPONSE FROM SATANHAUS (VIA TUMBLR)
This is an excellent question. Underlying my answers will bemy belief that Satan is not explicitly a deity, per se, but rather a metaphysical principle something like absence, nothingness, void, and so forth, that we are constantly interacting with an in fact are partially constructed by. Look at the space between your fingers—without it there would be no hand, no apparatus with which to grasp, no hole to make a fist. This is where Satan lives, in that nowhere that gives function and purpose to Being. Use the open-ended-ness of my answers to benefit you.
I find it helpful to meditate in places where Satan is most obvious, such as near holes or chasms, or in complete darkness.Anywhere where Nothing and open, empty space is most obvious. It might be beneficial to turn your gaze inward and look for the emptiness in and around you; holding a mudra (a symbolic hand gesture)can be helpful as well. I’ve also had success meditating in pools of water such as in a bath and reflecting on the formless, moving nature that both water and Satan share in common. The Daoist, Buddhist, and Hindu traditions overflow with these meditations. Perhaps look there.
Develop your talents and skills. Devote time to consciously building your mind, your body. You can think of Satan as an empty hole within you, as small as a grain of rice and yet deep, so deep the bottom cannot be reached, with movement and potential energy pouring endlessly from it.Exercise this energy, treat yourself with love and respect, build your strength and wisdom. Satan underlies all of these activities.
Create your own personal or spiritual space. You mentioned that you don’t have an altar. Many people function perfectly well without one, but many also find they greatly enjoy having it. Have you ever noticed how your mood changes when you finally get home after a long day, how you relax and begin to settle in once in the comfort of your own living space? You can create this same effect for spiritual purposes by constructing a dedicated space to it. You do not need to invest a great amount of money into this. Some people find a simple corner where they store their books, feathers, stones, anything which makes them feel powerful and secure, is enough to inspire Satanic feeling in them. Are there any images, symbols, or objects which make you feel powerful, “Witchy,” Satanic? Put them there. Gaze upon them. Enjoy them. Allow them to feed you and feed them back.
Read, read, READ!! You cannot hope to generate Satanic energy unless you respect the power of your mind and learn how to engage with ideas critically. Some excellent books on Satanism that I’ve been recommending include: Satanic Feminism by Per Faxneld, Children of Lucifer by Rueben van Luijk, and The Invention of Satanism by Asbjorn Dyrendal, et al. I’ve never read Evil Be My Good by Derek Murphy, which is about Milton’s Paradise Lost, but I’ve heard positive reviews of it. But your focus does not need to be Satan exclusively—it is a privilege to read that many people across the globe to not get to have, and I really would like to emphasize how important I believe reading is especially in a Satanic context. The mind is a wellspring of Satanic power and you only cultivate that ever more strongly when you develop your reading skills.
Write poems, make drawings, scream, sing, create in the name of Satan. What does Satan look like to you? Maybe it looks nothing like what I’ve described. Draw it anyway. Sing it anyway. Discover what Satan looks like in your own heart and bring it into Being. Creating Something from Nothing in your own image is incredibly Satanic. I sometimes find it helpful to personify Satan. Are there any deities that remind you of Satan? Why? Think about it to yourself, and maybe write it down. Share it with others or keep it secret. You made it, and it’s for you to decide.
Thank you for your question, I hope this was helpful.
