Equals and Opposites

If one wants to have a serious conversation about Satanism … about it as a philosophy of “free will” … I feel that it needs to start with a reflection on more than just a reaction against Christianity … Antichrist … Even the existence of Hell … is always in the context of the existence of a God … which is all bullshit in the first place … it’s like equals and opposites

Where I live there is a school. A Christian school. And on the wall of this four story building is a huge sign that says, “The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom” … it makes me ask the question, is fear, anxiety and guilt truly the path is wisdom? What teacher uses this kind of closed philosophy to open young minds? Fear of something doesn’t mean respect, appreciation or understanding … it means “do as we say or else” … not particularly enlightening or inspiring to me.

Out of the Ten Commandments” eight of them start with the words “Thou shall not…” — a negative rather than a positive — if one was to create a set of rules to govern behaviors, why would one start with such a negative point of view … and why would you waste four commandments to talk about yourself (graven images; no other god; taking God’s name in vain; honoring the sabbath, blah, blah) … why not use the commandments to talk about more important things … like respect for yourself and others, making sure that you educate yourself, love one another, be hopeful in times of stress, have the strength and conviction to be a better person, eating well and sleep well, getting the right amount of exercise, go to beach (if that’s your thing), taking care of one another …

It reminds me of a scenes from the “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” where Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is reminded by Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), that … “The code is more what you call a guideline, than actual rules” … the Pirate Code itself is inherently contradictory — as the whole concept of privacy is about freedom and rebellion from strict social convention — however the parallel here is interesting to consider in those dark biblical times.

Fast forward to today — I guess God’s playbook wasn’t really focused on us — not really life affirming was it?  It was more focused on what He wanted at our expense. That’s if He existed in the first place, which for the record, I don’t believe. When I was in my twenties I came up with an understanding that there is a randomness in everything… that contrary to popular belief that there is some kind of plan or grand design to everything … that it just comes down to “randomness”. … maybe not the most eloquent of statement, but it really helped me come to terms with a lot of the things that seemed incongruent with my Christian upbringing.

So Satanism should not be just a reaction against Christianity. Against God. Against a set of unrealistic beliefs in what life should be like in the twenty-first century; but should be life positive; should energize us; should inspire us; should grant the freedom that we all should be afforded (in the short time we live) in this crazy, fucked up and random world that is traveling around the sun at about one thousand miles an hour.

Here’s my ten commandants …

  1. Thou shall live a full and enjoyable life
  2. Thou shall look after your body, mind and soul
  3. Thou shall help others, if possible to enjoy the same
  4. Thou shall eat well, sleep well and exercise regularly
  5. Thou shall built an indomitable spirit within yourself
  6. Thou shall grow in knowledge and be open to new things
  7. Thou shall be of positive disposition and see the glass as half full
  8. Thou shall respects others, but not at the expense of your own self respect
  9. Thou shall grow, develop and explore the world (and sexuality)
  10. Thou shall read and contribute regularly to LS666, and exercise your free will

What do you really think? XP

  1. What do I think?
I think you nailed it on the head as far as the xtian god being a self-centered ego maniac who is more interested in telling what NOT to do than to tell what we should be doing. You are correct that the whole bible is basically all about god and how we are just his playthings but he is the center of attention at all times and fuck the rest of us. I like your 10 commandments overall… at least they are a vast improvement over the bible bullshit. So once again I commend you on your writing talents my friend.

p.s. change the world “like” to “live” in the beginning of the second paragraph. Hey, we all can use a good proof reader (I know I need one LOL)

    1. Hail Mick … one of my more thoughtful moments … I was going to do a perverted ten … but decided against it … more introspection

  2. I like this view point. We say Satan promotes sin, which is violations of the laws of Christian God. Some sins such as murder are generally considered bad, but sexual sins (which there are far too many) are not bad, but natural. We are all born with a sex drive, that develops as we grow. So how is sex bad then? It is a part of us for ever, just like eating, breathing, pissing, etc. So the point is that sex in of itself is not bad, but natural. Man(read society) has made it “sinful” to control people enjoying sex. Age of the person is the only real caveat, as chicldren(and even some young adults) are not capable of handles sex without it messing up their minds (i.e. they stop enjoying it and become possessive of the people they have sex with). Sex between consenting people should be without bounds, much as most other animal species exhibit(we are after all animals in the biological sense). We do all need to follow rule number 8, as respect for others makes the world better, and allows the sex to be for fun and not for control. Just my opinion;
