A moment of inspiration:
The Fall is a British-Irish crime drama television series filmed and set in Northern Ireland. The series is created and written by Allan Cubitt, produced by Artists Studio, and shown on RTÉ One in the Republic of Ireland and BBC Two in the UK. It stars Gillian Anderson as DSI Stella Gibson and Jamie Dornan as serial killer Paul Spector.
I found the recounting of Spector’s multitude of sexual perversions really interesting and the detail that the production went with his notepads of self-made pornography was very well done. What really peaked my interest was the mention in Season 3 Episode 4/5: where the character, Alvarez, recounts the sexual abuse the boys experienced at the Catholic-run boys’ home, overseen by a later convicted pedophile priest, where Alvarez resided with the Paul Spector… every morning in the carpeted hall the young boys are all forced to masturbate for the entertainment of the staff members. When the police forensic team tested the carpet they found that it was literally covered in semen stains.
