Are sigils important in my worship with the Dark Lord and Lilith?
Sigils are symbols which are used as a form of identification or a statement of follow-ship. Many are used within paganism and the occult. For many, a sigil or “seal” has magickal abilities or represents magick or, better said, power. The belief is that the sigil itself is imbued with a special power which can be accessed by using it. One investigating via the internet will quickly discover all one may need to know when it comes to the sigils. There is a vast amount of information where one can find all manner of answers.
What one should realize is there are literally hundreds of sigils; and one is free to design their own sigils to represent themselves, express themselves and convey their own feelings and ideas as part of their communication with the “beyond”. Since so much information can be quickly at one’s fingertips with the exertion of little effort, this article is limited to the question.
The magical properties of sigils which is advanced by many is interesting. Personally, I have problems when it comes to the inanimate having powers which require thought. I will not deny that a sigil can be a type of channel through which one feels the power and presence of their deity. I am not minimizing the use of sigils when one engages in personal worship.
In the movie “Casablanca,” the character Victor Laslo is approached by a man asking if Laslo wants to purchasee a ring. The man then showed the ring where Laslo sees the symbol of the Cross of Lorraine, a symbol for the Free French Resistance. Many who follow the Dark Lord may include the known sigils of those deities who are part of the pantheons of paganism and those created by the followers themselves to represent whoever or whatever the believer wishes.
A follower of the Dark Lord is free to use sigils and design and use their own sigils without criticism. I have problems with the sigil having any power or magic in and of itself. I see them as a sign, a symbol, a declaration of follow-ship and obedience to the person I have elected to follow the Dark Lord.
There is no need for one to use another sigil unless they wish to do so. Many within the occult call on the deities there frequently just as I do the Dark Lord. My personal belief is that my relationship is with His wickedness and, being deity and above all, he can work through any of those others in any way he wishes without requiring me to learn the list unless hat is what I wish to do, Many followers do so, especially those who honor and call upon the Dark Lord as Lilith. It is not necessary to do so and does not bring my relationship with the Dark Lord into question because I don’t.
This comes to mind — The xian God tells us he is, “A jealous god and will have no others gods before him” — The Dark Lord isn’t so particular. Recognizing our humanity, he allows us to reach out to him through other deities and worship him by other names and accepts our efforts unless we see ourselves as divine. Sigils, signs and symbols are evidence of my devotion and follow-ship and not necessary, unless I desire they be and help me on my journey.
